On 4 June, Kirkland & Ellis and Palantir announced a $500M "Fund Formation Engine," and everyone asked the same question: why Palantir, and not a legal-AI vendor? Wrong question. Kirkland bought infrastructure, not a model. That is the moat. And it holds for fund formation precisely because it would leak the day it leaves it.
